Travelling to Nepal? 5 Things to keep in mind
If you are planning to visit Nepal, here are 5 things that you should know before coming to this beautiful country:
1) Be ready for the adventure
You might not be accustomed to the local transportation system of countries like Nepal. Many tourists find the buses here extremely uncomfortable. Unless you are planning to travel by car or in some tourist buses, the local buses could be uncomfortable for you. But if you are an adventurous person, you might love it too.
2) Be respectful to the local culture
Kissing in the public might be normal in the west but in eastern cultures like Nepal, it is not perceived well. Please abstain from such activities in the public. In the temples, do not forget to keep your shoes outside of the temple. You might get into trouble if you enter the temple with your shoes.
3) Do not touch wild flowers in the hilly areas
While trekking in the hilly areas and mountainous regions, you could see some beautiful wild flowers. But these flowers aren't some beautiful looking ordinary flowers. These flowers have pollens that could make you feel dizzy. Many tourists faint and have to be taken to hospitals.
4) Take a local Nepali guide
While taking local Nepali guides will prove to be a bit costly, they can help you in navigating the place, paying fair prices at the market and interacting with the locals. These guides make the travelling process less hectic.
5) Avoid the cattle herd while trekking
In the Himalayan region, many tourists get into the middle of yak/sheep herd while trekking. This proves fatal specially in the steep hills. The yaks or the horses could push you down the steep hills and you could become victim of a fatal accident. Hence try to avoid these herds. While they pass you in the way, move a bit away and give them way. Move away from the steep slope.
